Read the first part here. This is for everyone who motivated me to bring out the second part.Happy reading!

Memories of yesteryears flooded back as if they had been ducked into a farthest corner of her mind, waiting for their release as she pondered over their last meeting, sitting in her room. He was one of those guys she tended to avoid, but her heart would not listen to any of the reasoning she gave it. It was getting difficult to argue with her heart and make it see the sides of him which made him highly unsuitable.

‘He may possess every other quality I idealize but I can’t say the same for his character’, she remembered how girls were nothing more than a number for him. He could never be  a ‘one woman man’. Now she was getting double minded at the prospect of going out with a guy like that altogether, but the wait of years to find the ‘perfect one’ got the better of her when she got a call from him. He was already on his way. And she could not help but say she would be leaving in a minute too.

“Love is blind, personified!”,  She exclaimed, stuffing her cell phone in her purse.

“He must have had a dozens of affairs by now….Stop it!” She reprimanded herself. Why would a girl preserving her love for the ‘one’ go for a guy like him…it wasn’t practical …and right!

‘Look at him closely, he has changed a lot from what he was..’, her heart replied.

Well, she had to agree on that point. The change was unfathomable. He had turned quite religious and maybe his thinking might have changed to. It seemed possible somehow. She was surprised to think how he nearly was at par with everything she wanted her beau to be.. only If her contention was true. But how would she know unless she went out and spent some time with him.

So, she picked up the car keys and left. At least she could reach on time now, but she made it a point to not to continue beyond this meet.

———–

That day, at the Coffee Klutch, the fact about him keeping a  ‘count’  had suddenly resurfaced her memory after she mentioned exploring a second chance at Love. ‘He must know..He is not new at this’ a thought had crossed her mind.

That was true, he had a lot of experience in this department. And she had some questions to be answered. “So, where has your count reached so far?” she shot it straight to the point, a smirk on her face. She wanted to bring the thing up in a lighter tone.

She knew he used to keep a count of his girlfriends and did not like any guy overpowering  him on that front. He took pride in that. Did he keep it still? She eyed him questioningly and he met her gaze as easily as he had done before. ‘This guy has come after an obvious practice’, She thought. He was exuding a confidence she had not expected to see.

“I get what you mean, but that count would not go beyond my wife”. He was obviously trying to play all his cards right. A “no” for an answer was not what he had in mind.

———-

So, his reply had not been as straightforward as her query had been. ‘Did the count stretch that far..’, She thought. She already knew it being at ‘three’, from the time he spent at school, and she could not take any chances. Matters of the heart needed to be dealt with care. She did not want to be a part of this count under any circumstances, but putting a halt at it seemed to be an entirely a different thing….

‘Its been eight years! There’s a big chance he has mended his teenage ways’, her heart  pleaded further. She was almost there, the Mall stood right in front of her. She took her car inside the parking lot as her mind replayed the conversation again.

———–

Lost in her deliberation, she had been unmindfully staring at her cup of coffee, when he had asked innocently. “Would you mind accompanying to the mall this Saturday by any chance ?”

‘Another date?’ Her mind had raced.

“Any plan?” she had countered his question. In order to get some solid answers, she had to give themselves a chance and this seemed like an opportunity.

“Well, nothing much. I have some shopping to do… I’m running out of shirts for office, you see” he had answered, crackling.

“Hehe..I could be of help then”, She had replied.

———–

‘This could not be that bad..’ her mind tried to calm down as she entered the Mall, while her heart rejoiced, beating wildly.

What will the meet have in store for them? Stay tuned for the updates!

When I first started following this blog it was mainly for the photos, but now I see that you’re quite a good fiction writer too.

Also, I bet the guy is secretly a wizard. He’s going to turn her into a newt.

You’ll be surprised to know I started this blog with three short stories.. And I continued writing them until I was caught in this race against time. Then one day I decided to pursue my other dream – photography. That helped bring to the you all how I saw the world around me.
And since photo blog posts took a lot less time to post, I have been quite regular in posting those. But then, fiction is my first love 😉
Thanks a lot for this comment..it took me back to old times 😜
You can explore the short stories categories to explore many more genres, if you like 🙂
And this guy maybe a wizard, but the results are out this Monday. So I guess you’ll have to wait 😉

Thank you so much. I was really glad to get back to fiction too.
Its great that you enjoyed your read.
About the story, love or infatuation for the ‘almost’ ideal man. 😝 The whole thing depends on the phrase ‘might be a good guy’ …. Let’s hope he is!
The next part will be out by Monday evening 🙂

Whoa! A ‘one man’ girl and a ‘character less’ guy! I have always believed in what they say, opposites attracts. 😛
But yes, I’m looking forward to the next part to see how things will go. On separate note, this is what I like about you, your consistency. You have managed to write next part and have announced as well. So yeah, I’m glad because I won’t need to keep waiting for the next part. 😀

You couldn’t have said that last note at a more fateful time. Care to read my latest post? This comment made me halt posting that one and give one last try, but hey, Its already 12.. And I have to get up at 6 tomorrow 😅
So, kindly grant me the leave :p
Also, I’m glad you liked the story and how its shaping up. Your first line almost made the protagonist more firm on her decision to leave, though many other readers might send a brickbat you for that. 😜 Just kidding
Keep enjoying the series and stay tuned!

Oh Hargun please, the note was outcome of my overall observation regarding you being consistent in posting at regular time interval. So yeah, sometime is fine. And, who else can understand the importance of sleep better than me? I had read your comment yesterday but chose sleep over replying as it was 12.30 already 😅 So, leave granted with no objections at all 😉
Characters! I’m looking forward to how they evolve themselves from good to bad or reverse as the story progresses but still fingers crossed. 🙂

For “the change” thing… I guess there are possibilities, people can change over the period of time.. bad ones turn into good ones and reverse or they simply don’t change no matter what (By bad/good in this case I am seeing from her perspective like he has had no. of girlfriends.. for which she declared him bad but possibilities always remains like what if he wasn’t the one to ditch all of them? )
On separate note I always believe that author can turn the lives of characters upside down so best luck! 😉

That is a good point, which you raised. Change has happened of course, let’s see if she can make out if it’s good or bad.
And yes, author can take the tale on any path indeed. ☺
Thanks a lot for elaborating and those wishes 😊
