Back with a bang!

image

‘Love at first sight’ I would call it. But on second thoughts, it seemed to difficult too attempt.

Bent down, I reached to the folder in which I had kept the sketches my art teacher had given me back at school for inspiration. This was my first step to reunite with my paints and brushes. Unconfident of my abilities after a hiatus of two years, I had decided to start with painting on traditional paper chart before I took back to canvass.

Now, before I could get hold of the folder, a sketch of a landscape lying near it caught my attention. I loved the landscape at the first instance, but on second thoughts it looked too difficult. Keeping it aside,I took out the blue folder and browsed through the other samples I had. But it turned out to be futile as none appealed to me as the one I had seen first . I sighed. I had no other choice. I decided to play it by the ear and finalised my love of first sight as the painting to be.

Highly impatient at first, I wanted to get over with the sketching part in a jiffy, and take to painting but as I realised in a few minutes, some great things needed patience and perseverance. So the strategy was altered. I planned to sketch the broad contours first and then take to detailing. Doing small parts over the next 2-3 days, I was ready to paint!
But where were they? Definitely not where I had left them neatly packed and preserved lest they dry up. At my home, if you can’t find anything missing from its usual place, then undoubtedly you’ll find it lying somewhere my little sister is usually found. Either near the mirror or the huge pile of stuff on her study table, which looks more like a place to dump stuff than a study table 😛.
Well, the latter option seemed the obvious place I could find my paints. So I began searching over, under, around & within this huge pile of books, markers, cardboards and what not. Gotcha! There was my paint box, cracked at one place and with some colour bottles missing. I explored further & found one of my paint brushes and the missing bottles. Then I remembered my water colour cakes were still to be found, so I lifted the whole pile and successfully found them under it.( Phew! This brat is incorrigible.)
But the obstacles were not over yet, as when I opened the paint bottles, all of them had dried and some were totally useless, being broken into a thousand pieces.
But as it’s said, ‘Don’t be pushed by your problems, be lead by your dreams’, I was determined to be undeterred.
I started off with what was left of them. And soon, the ‘test’ painting, looked worth all the effort I had put in it.

Now as I end my first post after a big break, I remember feeling the same impatient urge while writing the initial lines ,as I felt when I started to sketch this painting. I wanted to get back to my blog ASAP.
Both times, I took my first steps to follow my Bliss, again.

My heartiest greetings to my amazing WP community 🌸

Cheers!

I agree with you. I am also quite impatient to do something like a painting or drawing that takes a lot of time. Then after getting frustrated, I will realise some great things needed patience and perseverance. 🙂

Yes, I do. And thank you for inspiring me to do so, on that post. Somehow, all those suggestions turned my ‘will do it someday’ to ‘ must so it ‘
